Xiaomi may not be ready to deliver its next flagship phone – the alleged Mi 6 – anytime soon, but, that doesn’t mean the company is taking a break or something. The Redmi Note 4 has done well for Xiaomi in India and in China, and it may be looking to cash in on its success by launching a new variant of the phone in question, aka the Redmi Note 4X. It may launch it as early as next week, on February 14 to be precise.

Xiaomi has taken to social media website Weibo (via GSM Arena ) to announce that it is, indeed, launching the Redmi Note 4X on Valentine’s Day. There has been a lot of chit-chatter happening around the Redmi Note 4X, said to be some kind of turbo-charged version of the Redmi Note 4. Live images of the phone showing off its front and backside, recently made their way to the Internet. So did its probable spec-sheet courtesy certification website TENAA.

According to the leaked images, the Redmi Note 4X may come with a Mi 5 like physical home button on the front that should double as a fingerprint scanner.

The alleged Redmi Note 4X may come with either a MediaTek Helio X20 or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor clubbed with 4 gigs of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of internal memory. Rest of the specification will reportedly stay the same as the Redmi Note 4.The Redmi Note 4, which is available in China, comes in two variants: one with 2GB RAM and 16GB memory, and another with 3GB RAM and 64GB memory.

Expandable storage is also supported. Price start at CNY 899 (roughly Rs 9,000) and goes all the way up to CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs 12,000). The Redmi Note 4 has a full-metal unibody and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It comes with a 5.5-inch FullHD IPS display with a 1080p resolution and curved 2.5D glass. The phone is powered by a 10-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor.

The dualSIM phone runs Android Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 out-of-the-box and supports 4G LTE (and VoLTE-ready).

The Redmi Note 4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus and dualLED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on-board the device. It is backed by a 4,100mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 4X looks all set to be a China-exclusive affair for now. The company may have one more surprise up its sleeve, the Mi 5C, which is said to be powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Pinecone processor. Rumour has it that the company may launch it in sometime in February as well.
